Next Building

Perth, Western Australia.

Danny, Didier, Mercedes and I developed Next Building in the mid 2000's on the heel of the completion of Box Building across Hay Street. The revitalisation of the precinct had taken hold with the completion of Box, the work at Woodside had begun.

The corner buildings of the original two "Read Buildings" was a terrific design challenge, where we voluntarily kept the then unlisted building facades and interposed a light modern and deliberately simple structure to deliver the West End's premier boutique offices.

The preservation of heritage fabric is a fundamental asset of any city. The work that I have done in the West End speaks to how well it can be achieved in a modern context and without fuss.
