Awards
Recognition for the practice and the work — from the Archdiocese of Perth to the Sunday Times of London, across thirty-five years.
2020 — Marshall Clifton Award, Residential Architecture
The Floating House — Geraldine Street, Cottesloe. Australian Institute of Architects (Western Australia Chapter).
From the jury citation:
"An immediate visual impression and a bold metaphorical composition in which form becomes the structure — a pair of longitudinal stone volumes presented as one on a compact site; set at the end of a cul-de-sac and masterfully planned to address the street and anchor the area; a refined play of light and space balancing privacy against function on a tight site, with materiality and detail elevated to an art form. The practice expanded the brief into a flexible, season-responsive matrix of possibilities, captivating by the originality of the forms and the skill of delivery — a standout for residential design in 2020."
